Marché Du Film, Festival De Cannes

Marché Du Film needed the most secure encoding and video player solution for their Cinando marketplace offering.

Festival De Cannes is known as the World’s most prestigious film festival. Included as part of this gathering is Marché Du Film, the event’s film market where buyers look to acquire films from sellers. To assist with this objective, Marché Du Film launched their digital arm Cinando back in 2012. Cinando is the online platform that allows film sellers to stream their films to targeted buyers. Cinando has now grown into a digital community of over 70,000 film professionals, sharing over 65,000films with more than 3,500 buyers. It’s fair to say things have been going well for them; however, since the Cinando platform is home to highly valuable pre-monetized film content, it’s crucial that they can continuously ensure films are protected to the highest level possible.

Finding an only video technology partner to help them achieve this was a challenging endeavour. At the time SHIFT72 was the only provider with cloud video security at the forefront of their agenda. It was SHIFT72's compliance with MPAA and Film Studio standards, and our ability to encrypt content with Studio Grade DRM technology that were key deciding factors for Festival De Cannes when choosing SHIFT72. Cloud video security was not the only consideration that was a priority. With image standards constantly improving, finding an online video solution that could provide a premium HD viewing experience to users, equal to that of Netflix or iTunes, was equally important. SHIFT72's HTML5 Video Player, optimized for quality using Adaptive Bitrate Streaming meant Festival De Cannes would easily be able to deliver on this front as well.

"We required streaming quality and protection to a level of Netflix or iTunes; SHIFT72 were the perfect company to deliver on this."

Jerome Paillard, Executive Director, Marché Du Film

Marché Du Film has managed to grow Cinando into the premier online network for film professionals, offering the best tools to navigate the film industry, as well as secure high quality streaming experience for it’s users. They have now expanded their relationship with SHIFT72 to build a series of video apps for their new offering Cinando VL (Video Library), which aims to set film festivals up with their own secure screening room for showcasing films to industry members during the festivals window.
